Summary[]
BRIDAL SHOWERS, BACHELOR PARTIES AND BEASTS — JT (Austin Basis) throws Vincent (Jay Ryan) a surprise bachelor party. Unfortunately, it is interrupted by a mysterious sniper with his sights set on putting a stop to Vincent and Cat’s (Kristin Kreuk) interference with the super human experiments. Cat’s family comes to town for a bridal shower arranged by Heather (Nicole Gale Anderson) but Cat is distracted by having to visit her imprisoned father (guest star Ted Whittall) to ask for his help. Nina Lisandrello also stars.
Plot[]
Catherine and Vincent tour churches and wedding venues. Heather asks what they think. The engaged couple is not too excited about the venue. The problem is the massive guest list. Vincent has distant cousins while Cat welcomes “two tiny aunts with giant suitcases”. At the Gentlemen’s Club, Vincent gets a visit from his distant cousins, Hank, Lou and Damon. They want to throw Vincent a bachelor party with strippers at Il Cantuccio’s back room. Vincent is not into the idea but is saved by the sound of a gunshot. Vincent takes off running. JT, Hank, Lou and Damon go after Vincent. The shooter turns out to be a “beast-like” man in a random shooting spree. Vincent blurs to the shooter’s balcony of the Hudson West building where Vincent neutralizes him, but Hank is shot in the process. Hank and the beast are taken to the hospital. JT also comes along to run some tests. JT discovers the beast is merely a man now. Apparently, the shooter was infected with a 24hr “beast virus”. Meaning, whoever is behind the serum is targeting predisposed civilians. Catherine, upset, goes home to face Aunt Lily and Aunt Claire. Claire faints when she sees Cat because she looks so much like Vanessa. Heather suspects Cat is sad because she wishes their mom was there for the wedding. Cat is conflicted because Lily and Claire bring up “St. Vanessa”, and look at baby pictures of her with dad. Cat does not want to tell them that her mom experimented on her fiancée but the way they talk about her makes her cringe. Catherine and Vincent put their family drama on hold to contain the beast-outbreak. JT discovers the virus has proto-beast DNA. So, Vincent and Cat pay a visit to Reynolds. Bob says Vincent should track the experiments, because Vincent and the experiments have proto-beast DNA in them. Reynolds defends Vanessa and tells Catherine to look into the box of mementos he gave her. Cat says no. Bob says she should. That night at the bridal shower, Heather gives a toast congratulating Catherine on finding her “Prince Charming” and mentions her mom would be so happy for Cat finding Vincent. This sends Cat over the edge and she explodes in front of the entire party. The next day, Vincent gets some of JT’s blood samples to help with the tracking because – as it turns out – JT had proto-beast DNA in him as well. He mentions that this makes them “blood brothers”. The idea makes Vincent very happy, but his good mood is short-lived when he sees cousin Hank in the hospital. Turns out cousin Hank had always felt jealousy and resentment towards Vincent’s side of the family. He only showed up to use “Vincent-the-war-hero” as part of his Councilman campaign. At the precinct, Catherine and Tess conclude a bike messenger delivered packages to all the infected subjects. Vincent arrives to tell them he can track the messenger’s proto-beast DNA. Cat and Vincent find the infectious messenger and chase him down – Vincent on blurring foot and Cat in her car. Vincent and Catherine corner the messenger in a parking garage, only to realize that the whole thing was a trap. The messenger takes pictures of Vincent and Cat and transmits it to the person behind the infections. Then the messenger gets instructions to make an impossible jump across a rooftop. He dies. At the gentlemen’s club, JT reminds Vincent that stopping an epidemic is good. Vincent points out that falling into the trap of an unknown evil mastermind using Manhattan as their personal lab is bad. They are all unsure of their next move. JT suggests moving to Tahiti. At home, Catherine goes through a box of her mother’s mementos. Cat finds a recording Vanessa made many years ago. On the tape, Vanessa explains that she had good intentions at heart, she wanted to make the world a better place for her beloved daughters. At the end of the video, Vanessa answers her phone and tells Cat that she will be right there with jumper cables. Heather finds Cat sobbing. The sisters hug as they continue to cry. Later, Catherine meets up with Vincent at one of the churches they were scouting for their wedding. Cat explains that she has made her peace with what her mother did. Vincent tells her that he just wants to get married, no more obstacles. Someone throws grenades into the church, Vincent and Cat escape and the mercenary enters. |
