Summary[]
VINCENT LEARNS WHAT LIFE WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE WITHOUT CAT – Vincent (Jay Ryan) and Cat (Kristin Kreuk) realize they have to go into hiding now that someone is out to kill Vincent. Vincent wonders if Cat would have been better off without him and gets a glimpse into exactly what her life could have been.
Plot[]
Another assassin attacks Vincent and Catherine in bed. They fool the assassin, so his only causalities were Vincent and Cat’s bedding. However in the process, Vincent re-opens the wound Tolland inflicted. The assassin doesn’t know who his boss is. Vincent knows he isn’t lying so he snaps and knocks the assassin to the ground. Vincent says he is sick of assassins ruining Cat’s life and thinks Cat would be better off if she’d never found him. Of course, Cat says he is feverish and goes to the doctor. When Cat picks up her phone, she realizes Vincent’s phone was hacked. The hacker sent a text to JT, Tess and Cat luring them to Il Cantuccio. It is clearly a trap so Vincent rushes there, even though he is still bleeding. At Il Cantuccio, JT and Tess wait for Catherine and Vincent when a sniper shoots at them. Vincent arrives just in time to get shot (again). Cat arrives shortly after and they all end up barricaded inside the coffee shop. That’s when Vincent goes into a fugue state. When Vincent wakes up he finds himself in a cage with bloody hands, a dead deer and no clothes. Along with the beast blackouts, Vincent realizes that his scar is back. To confuse Vincent even more, JT shows up and acts like it is 2012. Through a lot of yelling, JT gives Vincent the lay of the land: They live in hiding, they are still looking for a cure and he has no clue of who Catherine is. In reality, Vincent is still bleeding at Il Cantuccio with Catherine, JT and Tess. Back in the fugue state, Vincent tracks Catherine to Il Cantuccio. He approaches Cat, she doesn’t recognize him. To make matters worse, Fugue-Cat is married to Evan. Vincent is furious at his (alternate) reality, but JT arrives to take him away. Later Vincent stalks Cat from the adjacent fire escape like he used to and discovers that she is not all that happy with Evan. In a nutshell, she feels their relationship is missing something and she never moved on after the night of the Muirfield attack. Fugue-Catherine walks out of the apartment, frustrated that Evan doesn’t believe her about a beast saving her. Vincent approaches Cat on the roof and rattles off a bunch of facts to try to prove that he knows her. He tells Cat that her mother’s death wasn’t her fault. Cat kicks his butt and leaves. In reality, Il Cantuccio is still under fire. Catherine tells Vincent that she loves him and that he needs to keep fighting. Vincent says that Cat doesn’t know him. Back in the fugue state, Vincent concludes this alternate reality is happening because he told Catherine that she is better off without him. Vincent tries to convince JT that his world is better, still screwed up, but better than living in tunnels alone. Fugue-Vincent finds Reynolds and asks him to come out as Catherine’s bio-dad. Vincent, Reynolds and JT go to Catherine’s apartment. They are too late. Muirfield has already abducted her. Evan once again tipped off Muirfield. But just like real Evan, Fugue-Evan is filled with regret and helps Vincent find Cat, who is being held at the off the grid power plant. Evan and Vincent go in. With the help of JT cutting off the lights, Vincent finds Cat tied to a chair. He cuts her ropes and they run to a separate part of the power plant. Vincent can’t blur with his injuries. Cat is concerned for him and is grateful for the rescue. Cat realizes that this “isn’t the first time” Vincent has saved her. Cat recognizes him from the night her mom died. Evan sacrifices himself (again). Vincent and Cat take off but after running to the tree line he wonders why he didn’t go back to reality. Vincent says maybe Cat is better off without him after all. Cat says she is not loosing him and tells Vincent to come back to her. Vincent flashes back to the night they met and their honeymoon before coming back to reality. After seeing Real-Catherine’s loving face telling him that he’s home, the first thing Vincent does is turn to JT and ask about his scar. JT confirms there is no scar. Vincent tells Cat it was a terrible dream and they kiss. He asks her one more time, “You know who I am right?” Cat smiles and hugs him. Later, a lieutenant tries to ask JT why he and his friends were shot at. JT turns to Tess and Deputy Secretary Hill who say “classified” with a shrug and a flash of their badges. JT and Tess inform Hill that the snipers and the beast bounties are not connected – meaning there are two villains after Vincent – one sends bounty hunters after Vincent and another that sends assassins after Vincent, Cat, JT and Tess. At the hospital, Dr. Heidari scolds Vincent for “not taking care of himself”. Vincent tells Cat about his fugue-dream and concludes that Cat is not better off without him. While walking the halls, they decide to move away from the window to be on the safe side. Vincent kisses her head and they go back to his room. |
Quotes[]
CAT: I told you we should have stayed at a hotel.Cat: Dr. Heidari said you shouldn’t even be out of bed.
- Vincent: Yeah, well, Dr. Hedari doesn’t know how dangerous it is for me be to be in bed these days, does he?
Vincent: The hit man is after me, not after you
- Cat: Try telling that to my pillow. Hey what’s going on?
- Vincent: You want to know what's going on? I am sick to death of this crap. You know what, I'm sick of ducking beasts and bullets and every other person that is after me, okay? And I'm sick of ruining your life in the process.
- Cat: You are not ruining my life.
- Vincent: There is a hit man lying in the middle of your living room - again. Just admit it, you would've been better off if you'd never found me.
- Cat: Okay, you're feverish. I am calling the doctor.
JT: Sheesh! At least you had a sense of humor when we were together.
- TESS: Really? You think you gave me a sense of humor?
- JT: Yeah, I do, as a matter of fact. And gummy worms. Got you into gummy worms.
- TESS: That-that changed my life. You're right. You're right.
- JT: See? Yeah. Just made you laugh.
JT: You hungry? Sorry. Forgot, you already ate.
JT: Beasting out I can handle. Crazy, I can't.
Evan: Who was that guy? He seemed to know you.
- Cat: Did he? I don't know. I've never seen him before in my life. What, are you jealous?
- Evan: No, I'm upset, all right? I tried to surprise you with a nice anniversary party.
- Catherine: Yeah, you surprised me, all right.
- Evan: It obviously didn't please you.
- Cat: I don't want to talk about this right now, Evan, it's late.
- Evan: Well, I do. Look... Cat, just talk to me, okay? Tell me what's wrong. I love you more than anything, and you know that. I would die for you. Just... just tell me what to do. Tell me how to make you happy.
- Cat: I don't know. All I know is that this isn't about you. You are a good man, Evan. You have only ever been good to me. But...
- Evan: But what?
- Cat: I keep trying to find ways to make this work... for us. But no matter how hard I try, I... (chuckles) I can't get past...
- Evan: What, that night? Damn it, Cat, still?
- Cat: I can't forget it just because you want me to. My mother was murdered that night, and I was supposed to be killed, too.
- Evan: Yeah, but some fairy tale creature saved you. Look, it was ten years ago, Cat, okay? It's time to get over it. A terrible thing happened, beyond awful, but... this fantasy version that you have made up is just destroying us. Can't you see that?
- Cat: Nobody believes me. Nobody ever has.
JT: Might as well hang a sign that says: Dear Muirfield, here I am!
TESS: So, Joe stood me up last night again. Really sucks when you're involved with your married boss, you know?
- CAT: Tess, I keep telling you, there is somebody out there who is better for you.
- TESS: Really? Like who? Isn't that the guy who crashed your party? Yeah, and his friend.
VINCENT: Look, Reynolds, I'm not gonna hurt Catherine, okay? I love her very much, and she loves me.
- REYNOLDS: Well, that's impossible. You're one of them.
- VINCENT: Well, at least you're consistent. You hate the idea of us being together in both worlds.
