The Most Dangerous Beast is the 5th episode of the Third Season, and the 49th episode overall.

Summary[]

THE RETURN OF BOB AND CAROL — When Cat (Kristin Kreuk) is assigned to a new partner by Tess (Nina Lisandrello), she begins to suspect that Bob (guest star Alan Van Sprang) and Carol (guest star Natasha Henstridge) have re-surfaced to separate her from Vincent (Jay Ryan) and hunt them both down. Meanwhile, a transformed JT (Austin Basis) discovers that his newfound healing ability comes at a terrible cost.

Plot[]

SPOILERS AHEAD

Vincent and Catherine try to break their co-dependency habits over coffee and biscotti at Il Cantuccio. Cat thinks she sees Carol and darts out of the coffee shop to chase after her, leaving her fiancé, tablet and coffee behind. After getting a pep talk, her tablet and her coffee from Vincent, Cat heads to work.

While Vincent goes to Lake Placid to help out a clinic, Catherine stays behind to do investigate with new partner Wesley Atchinson. The new detective will not get much training from Cat, because she is obsessing about Carol. Yet, Cat’s obsession is justified. Bob and Carol still plot to kill Vincent and Cat when they are at their weakest: not together.

Meanwhile, JT learned the following: “Bob and Carol can slow down their heart rates and speed up their brain processing power to such an extent they see the world in slow-motion”.

Carol doesn’t want to offCatherine in broad daylight because it is too much hassle. So Carol kills an innocent in front of Il Cantuccio. Cat and Atchinson investigate and find a rare form of meth on the victim.

At Lake Placid, Bob hurts an innocent to lure Vincent. Bob “tests” Vincent to see if he is the beast he and Carol need. The first test is a “beast morality test”. Vincent passes when he saves the innocent (only to watch Bob kill him two minutes later).

At the meth lab, Catherine goes to make a call but realizes that Carol is jamming her reception. Cat tells Atchinson to go back to the precinct and bring in the calvery. Atchinson says he is not going to leave her. Carol shoots him. Cat puts him in her car and tells him to drive back and send help.

JT arrives at Lake Placid to hear gunshots.

Back in the city, Catherine stays behind to face Carol, who has run out of bullets. Carol taunts the detective. Cat remembers what JT learned about Bob and Carol. Carol can “see” the world in slow motion, so Cat takes away her ability to see by smashing the fuse box. On an even playing field, Cat wins the fight.

At Lake Placid, Bob’s second test involves Vincent beasting out. Vincent beasts out tries to attack Bob, but Bob tranqs him.

JT goes to rescue Vincent. Just in case he dies, he calls Tess to tell her he loves her. When Tess gets the message, she loses it and tells Carol that if her boyfriend dies she will kill her.

Back at Lake Placid, JT and his giant stick block Bob’s path. Bob asks what he is doing out there. JT says saving his friend. Vincent recognizes his voice and tells him to run. JT reminds Vincent that he can save himself and Bob hits him with his truck. This triggers Vincent to beast out, break his chains and snaps Bob’s neck. He doesn’t change back right away, but after thinking about Catherine, he goes back to his human self.

Catherine and Tess learn that their loves are still alive. They go to the interrogation room to let Carol know that she was not so lucky. Carol doesn’t wait for them to deliver the news. She sees the looks on their faces across the bullpen. So, she stops her heart and dies.

At the gentlemen’s club, JT doesn’t heal instantly and thinks he might have used up the serum. Tess visits him and before leaving makes sure to mention in passing that she loves him too.

Back at Il Cantuccio Vincent and Catherine get concert tickets and kiss.
