In a flashback of the very first episode of the series, a female doctor is seen injecting Vincent Keller with a serum that was designed to change his DNA. The serum was administered through his neck.
Though never confirmed, she was most likely assassinated due to her involvement in Muirfield botched experiment to create super soldiers
